We offer our patients the option of using nitrous oxide to enhance their experience while getting dental treatment. Nitrous oxide has been the primary means of sedation in dentistry for many years. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a sweet smelling, non irritating, colorless gas. Nitrous oxide is safe with no side effects to your heart or lungs. Our doctors will safely administer 50-70% oxygen with no less than 30% nitrous oxide. The patient is able to breathe on his own and remains in control of all bodily functions. Other benefits of nitrous oxide sedation are that there is no after effect (or “hangover”) and it is very effective in minimizing gagging.
